A Medicare "Select" policy is a Medicare Supplement or Medigap policy, that is sold in many states including Texas. If
you choose a "Select" Plan, the coverage would be identical to the standard plan of the same letter designation (C
"Select" would have the same coverage as a standard "C Plan"), except that you would be required to use a hospital
within their network, for Non-Emergency situations. If you do not use a network hospital in a non-emergency situation,
you will not be covered by the supplement. You would have to pay the charges that Medicare does not. Medicare will
pay it's share of the approved charges, no matter what hospital you choose.
In an emergency, you can still go to any hospital and receive full coverage. Of course, these "Select" plans do have a
lower premium than the "standard" plans.
